As many of you know, we’re always on the lookout for new tools that can improve our workflow. Whether it’s about boosting quality, speeding up the process, or increasing production—if there’s something new to try, we’re in. Over the past few years, we’ve come across various tools for shaping bricks, and one that’s been gaining traction recently is the brick chisel.

From Brick Cutters to Brick Chisels
Every bricklayer knows the traditional brick cutter. It's perfect for cutting bricks to size, like the well-known drieklezoor, which is often used in wild bond brickwork—a brick bond that’s become increasingly popular in newbuild in the Netherlands. Brick cutters do a solid job, but sometimes you need a little more precision or flexibility. That’s where brick chisels come into play.
We’ve had the chance to test out several chisel models in recent years—with mixed results. What we focus on most are two key things: how clean is the cut, and how comfortable is the tool to use?

Brick chisels have been gaining more ground in recent years. We've tested several models by now—with varying levels of success.

Where Things Often Go Wrong
A clean chisel cut is essential. If the brick doesn't come out clean enough to use right away, you're back to cutting or sawing—both of which take extra time.
We’ve also noticed a big difference in usability between models. Is the chisel comfortable to handle? Is it set up for flexible sizing? Some are designed specifically for the drieklezoor size, but not all bricks follow standard dimensions these days. So it’s important to be able to adjust. And that’s where some chisels fall short—like when spacing guides don’t stay in place during use. Frustrating, and a real workflow killer.

Turning Frustration into Innovation
Our experience has led us to a clear conclusion: no chisel on the current market fully meets our expectations. Every tool has its pros and cons—but the perfect chisel? It didn’t exist.
So we decided to build it ourselves.
We started tweaking existing models to better fit the challenges we face in the field. That soon led to a bigger idea: creating an entirely new model—designed by professionals, for professionals. A tool that brings everything together: sharp results, adaptable sizing, solid construction, and ergonomic comfort.

Sneak Peek: Our Custom Chisel Is on Its Way
We’re currently in the testing phase of our prototype. And as you’d expect from us—we won’t stop refining it until it’s just right. Once we hit that sweet spot, we’re aiming to bring it to market as soon as possible.
Curious what it looks like? Here’s a little sneak peek of the current prototype 👀Make sure to follow our pages so you don’t miss out when it officially launches!
